Large sculptural clown in opalino sommerso glass encased in rigadin cristallo (ribbed clear glass).
Created in the 1950s as a tribute to Ruggero Leoncavallo’s opera Pagliacci (1892), this expressive figure is frozen mid-song—his pose and open mouth suggesting a dramatic aria.
The clown’s hat and shoes are executed in lattimo (milky glass) enriched with gold leaf, while his head and hands are in transparent glass with infused gold leaf. His vivid face, ruffled collar, and bow tie are composed of applied colorful glass elements that enhance the theatrical presence of the figure.
The sculpture stands on a round transparent base and retains its original Fratelli Toso label on the underside.
